L'argentino Diego Sebastian Schwartzman è favorito nella sfida degli ottavi di finale del Roland Garros 2021 che lo oppone al tedesco Jan-Lennard Struff. "El Peque", come è soprannominato Schwartzman, ha tutte le intenzioni di confermare l'edizione 2020 quando si spinse fino alla semifinale, sua miglior prestazione in un major e finora non ha sbagliato un colpo mettendo in fila il cinese di Taipei, Yen-Hsun Lu, lo sloveno Alajz Bedene e l'altro tedesco Philipp Kohlschreiber senza perdere neanche un set. Di fronte Struff che con la prestazione di quest'anno ha eguagliato l'ottavo di finale raggiunto nel 2019. Già protagonista di un gran colpo a inizio torneo, quando in cinque set aveva eliminato il più accreditato Andrey Rublev, il tedesco ha poi estromesso in tre partite sia l'argentino Facundo Bagnis sia il "next gen" spagnolo Carlos Alcaraz. Terzo testa a testa in carriera tra questi due giocatori.
