Dopo aver conquistato matematicamente la qualificazione alla seconda fase dell'Europa League vincendo 1-0 il recupero contro il PSV Eindhoven giocato giovedì 20 ottobre all'Emirates Stadium e di fatti blindando anche il primo posto nel girone, l'Arsenal di Mikel Arteta deve ricominciare a fare il proprio lavoro anche il Premier League e nel 13esimo turno andrà a far visita al Southampton al St. Mary's Stadium. Si gioca domenica 23 ottobre 2022 con fischio d'inizio alle 15 ora italiana. Ci sono 16 punti di differenza con i Saints che nel turno infrasettimanale sono andati ad espugnare il terreno del Bournemouth per 0-1 con rete dello scozzese Ché Adams. Come si diceva, il gol di Granit Xhaka ha dato all'Arsenal il successo contro il PSV che è valso ai londinesi anche l'ottava vittoria di fila tra campionato e coppe.
