Sarà l'Old Trafford a ospitare il primo derby di Manchester di quest stagione. Un derby al quale le due squadre arrivano con umori opposti dopo la settimana di Champions: lo United del norvegese Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ha perso per 3-2 sul campo del RasenBallsport Leipzig finendo terzo nel girone e relegato in Europa League. Per il City dello spagnolo Pep Guardiola, invece, ancora una vittoria nel proprio raggruppamento grazie al 3-0 sull'Olympique Marsiglia e primo posto. Quel che salta all'occhio guardando l'andamento stagionale dei Citizens è che tra tutte le competizioni non prendono gol da 5 gare di fila. Due dubbi per parte: nell'United si tratta di Martial e Cavani, mentre nel City sono Gundogan e Garcia.
