Imbattuto da 21 partite e reduce da 14 vittorie di fila in tutte le competizioni, il Manchester City di Guardiola, primo in Premier League, ospita il Tottenham. La squadra di Mourinho, al contrario di quella di Guardiola ha perso brillantezza dopo una ottima partenza. Il successo con il West Bromwich 2-0 dell’ultima gara ha messo fine ad un terzetto di sconfitte una dietro l’altra che ha fatto piombare gli Spurs all’ottavo posto, fuori dalla zona Europea della graduatoria.
