In Inghilterra è tempo di Coppa di Lega e questo turno ci regala una sfida da capogiro: Manchester City - Chelsea potrebbe infatti essere una finale. I Citizens lo scorso anno si fermarono solo agli ottavi, battuti dal West Ham; per il Chelsea invece beffarda finale persa contro il Liverpool all'ultimo rigore. Il Manchester City appare un po' affaticato ma riesce comunque a mantenere un alto ritmo e tasso di vittorie. All'ultima giornata è giunto un successo in extremis sul Fulham, tuttavia non vi sono i ritmi forsennati di inizio stagione e dopo tante partite è fisiologico, con alcuni giocatori (come Haaland) che hanno avuto noie fisiche. Anche il Chelsea ha diversi uomini in infermeria ed appare leggermente sfavorito. Anche se Potter ha ottenuto discreti risultati nelle ultime tre partite sono arrivate due sconfitte e contro tre delle cosiddette Big Six affrontate in stagione i Blues non hanno vinto, mostrando forse anche se è presto per dirlo certi limiti ai massimi livelli.
